Captain Shaun turned his lifelong passion into reality by founding Charter’s North in 2012. From Walleyes to Salmon, Shaun catches trophy fish across all species. As a Simms Pro Staff Guide, Shaun provides expert guidance, top-tier equipment, and an engaging teaching style. For Shaun, there’s nothing more fulfilling than helping clients catch fish.
Deven is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Applied Agricultural Economics. Deven has religiously fished Torch and Elk Lake for the past seven years, giving him a deep understanding of the Chain of Lakes ecosystem. Starting as a first mate for Charter’s North, Deven learned firsthand under Captain Shaun’s mentorship. Now, as a licensed captain and with the addition of a new boat to our fleet, we are excited to offer Walleye and Smallmouth Bass trips.
Throughout the year, fish continuously move across the lake with the purpose of finding food, comfortable water temperature, saftey and spawning grounds. Depending on the season, they will prioritize some these goals more than others. We track bait migrations, bug hatches, and weather conditions to pinpoint these fish behaviors. Additionally, our Lowrance (fish finder) gives us water temperature, depth, and key waypoints to position our baits in the most productive areas.
